Greg Saveall-Green: theory as to why Cape Liberty proved so cheap

There are few more invigorating feelings in gambling than that fairly fleeting one of sitting on a low-stakes, big-priced ante-post voucher on a horse that has just begun to exhibit star potential.

Greg Saveall-Green began to experience its bloodstock equivalent at the beginning of October when Liberty Lane made his debut in an interesting-looking extended mile maiden at Nottingham.

Trained by Karl Burke in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, the Teofilo colt presented immediate appeal as a Derby type for next year as he won by an impressive five lengths. Not only does Saveall-Green own the dam, Cape Liberty, she was his first ever purchase and cost him just 1,000gns.
