It’s not easy being around at the same time as a history maker. Just ask Richard Johnson, who spent 16 seasons in jumps racing being runner-up to the extraordinary AP McCoy before finally taking his own turn in the spotlight.
In the career of a thoroughbred stallion, Dubawi has been as equally admirable and reliable a bridesmaid who, without the presence of Galileo in the ranks, would be regarded as unstoppable himself.
On four occasions, most recently in 2020, Dubawi came second to the late legend in the title that matters most to breeders in this parish, that of champion British and Irish Flat sire.
